Hey Elana, Can't wait to hear the new band! I saw HCOC in Goshen, IN a couple of years ago. You guys were smokin'!! Too bad not too many people around here are into WS. By the way, I'm broadcasting red hot Western Swing from the '30s and '40s on Live365. Believe me, this is the good stuff! Please give it a listen (it's free). Here's the link. http://www.live365.com/stations/hoolster  ...Click the link above (or copy it into your browser) to listen! Ralphie

Howdy Elana--
And greetings from WHRB's Hillbilly at Harvard! I just learned you are playing Great Barrington this month, but disappointed to see you won't be hitting the Boston area (no Johnny D's gig?--call Dana!). As you know, any Saturday morning it's open house for hillbillies, so any time you're in the area, come down and play live on the show. I still treasure the times you and the HCCT were on the show, but it's been a while; at least three years, before Ol' Sinc passed away.
For those who may be reading this, Hillbilly at Harvard airs every Saturday from 9am - 1pm Eastern time on WHRB-FM, 95.3, Cambridge, MA. We are also streaming to the whole wide world on the World Wide Web at http://www.whrb.org
Wishing you continued success with the new group. Jane and I may be down in the Austin area late March or early April, so maybe we'll get a chance to hear you then.
/Cousin Lynn

I saw your band in Waco.  I now live in Phoenix and am tutoring the children of a Korean family.  Both children:boy, 7 and girl, 12 are taking violin lessons.  I love your work and am introducing many other accomplished artists to these students.  What age did you start lessons?  Thanks, Matt.

Elana, I just read your section on your influences and was wondering what your thoughts are on Stephane Grapelli? I am not a musician but have always been amazed at the effortlessness in the way he plays.

Hope to see you in New York at the end of January.

I am a friend of Beau Sample's dad, Keith. I moved to Texas recently from Las Vegas, NV and discovered your talents at Hondos in Fredericksburg last Friday. WHAT A THRILLING EXPERIENCE. My dad brought me up on Bob Wills, Spade Cooley and the like and I have never heard it live like you guys did it last week! I can't wait until Gruene's on the 28th! See you there. I work at Medina Children's Home and would love to discuss a possible appearance someday.?.?

Hey Elena

Heard you playing at the Hole in the Wall last week in Austin. Though I caught only the last two songs I thought you and your band were great.

I heard you will be playing again tomorrow and I will be there to hear you from song one this time.

It was exciting to hear that you studied some Indian classical music too!

Good luck and keep playing

Varsha

Hi Elana - we met when you toured the UK in 2004 with HCOC

Hope to meet you again next year on your UK tour - who will you have with you on the tour as backing musos?

ALso please try to get the venues posted as soon as possible, as if you are not going to be performing in the North West, I'll need to book up time off work, and somewhere to stay, as I'm determined to see your show.

Regards

Stewart

We were introduced to the joys of your music recently at the McEvoy Olive Ranch Harvest Party, and I was completely mesmerized.  I have always been a huge music fan and tire so much of the ordinary, video-driven fare.  It isn't easy these days to find quality offerings on the radio, and finding someone inspirational is always a great joy.  Immediately after hearing your music, but without your postcard in hand to help me to remember the full name of the band, I logged on and simply typed "Elana Texas Fiddle" and hit "go".  I found you, and I then purchased a CD, which I have happily listened to non-stop since then.  You're amazing, and you're a true gift to us.  Thank you for brightening our lives!    - Suzanne Porteus, Portola Valley (near San Francisco), California

Heard you might be coming up to Belton for the Texas Western Swing Showcase in March. If you are, you better be working the kinks of of Hoyle's old "Comin' Down fron Denver" & "Shine" as someone"?" might request it! Hope you can make it.

            Alana,

I had the pleasure of hearing you in Raleigh N.C.and thought you sounded like Grappelli.I have most of his recordings and now that I have found your website I intend to purchase some of yours. There are numerous venues here in the triangle Duke, UNC, so come to N.C. I like the music in your site and will give it a shot on one of my home made fiddles. In one way at least I feel I have mastered the box.                                              Regards

Elana and the Hazard Boys --

There must be a story there and if there isn't, you need to make one up!

Heard you tonight at T-gill's.  Love the music you play and the way you play it.  Wanted to be sure you had heard Django and Stephane playing Daphne.  I found it on a 1998 ASV CD of original mono recordings titled "The Quintessential Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli, La Quintette du Hot Club de France".

Keep swingin'!

Hi, Elana! Wish you could have been in Dylan's band longer; I saw the five shows in Chicago and one in Milwaukee and thougth they were all terrific! I always thought that the band needed more violin. Most bands do! You were the envy of an awful lot of women attending those shows (though they tried their hardest to cover that with contempt and criticism). My friends and I raised a toast to you in the hotel after the milwaukee show (though a couple of the women present refrained). Hope you can make it back to Chicago soon!

Elana, just found your website and wanted to thank you for some outstanding music. I saw you with HCOCT in Lexington, KY back in the '04 Dylan/Nelson tour.

Please come back to play in Kentucky again soon, with or without whatever incarnation of whatever band you wish. Your outstanding singing and playing are sorely missed!

I caught some of your interview on KGSR this morning.  You sounded great.  I love the way you keep reinventing yourself.  For long time fans like me you keep it interesting.  Can't wait to catch the new ensemble.
