A belated thank you for your electric performance at Club Helsinki. I'm so glad I brought along my 12 yo son. He seems to have been inspired by the guitar pickin'. You were by far the most enjoyable artist I have seen there - you have minted a new fan! I won't bore you by repeating all the wonder- ful accolades, but I can back them all up. It was a pleasure to chat with you outside the club. Just wish you can come out east soon. Enjoy spreading your joy and don't change nuthin' - you are too beautiful.
Comments: Hi Elana, I just heard that you changed your name "for professional reasons." I will have to get used to that. Have seen you perform seven times in 2004 during your, what did you call it? "22 days of Christmas" tour? I came to your both several times and spoke with you...mostly wondering how you ended up touring with Dylan. You said he saw you on a tv show in London and called you. He certainly has an eye for talent! I also saw you perform twice in Chicago with Bob Dylan and Merle Haggard. I enjoy your music and the magic you bring to the music. I am from a small town in Indiana and would love to see you visit the Hoosier State. There is a great club in Indianapolis called the Vogue which I hear is a great place to play. Comments: Here's my addition to the wonderful reviews posted. You and your fiddle are as one. I saw you first several years ago with Hotclub at the Armadillo Christmas Bazaar. I have been a fan of yours ever since. I have introduced friends to you, have been to several local Ausitn venues to see you and I enjoy your performances every time no matter the name or make-up of the group. I also have caught you on Prairie Home Companion for a couple of your appearances. Your sound and personality translate very well to radio.
With the changes and progress you are undergoing, please do not think that you have to reinvent yourself/your personality. The more 'you' you are, the better. Best wishes for continued success...and I mean that in the way you define success.

I had the pleasure of seeing and hearing you for the first time in Salt Lake City at the Nature's Sunshine convention last year. You have the sexiest voice I've ever heard and your playing was so effortless and smooth. You signed a shirt for my oldest son and your CD is a big hit with my 15 and 10 year old. They even have it on their mp3 players and play it to their friends. How many 10 and 15 year old boys have you seduced with your music? You know what I mean; these boys were drawn to your voice just like their 41 year old dad. My 15 year old son Allen is a huge Bob Dylan fan and was very pleased to have you touring with him. We will follow you and your new group, but I'm sad to see the Hot Club of Cowtown end. I hope to see you again.

Just a line to thank you for all the great music over the years, (even by chance like when I found you on a Tom Russell CD!) I was lucky enough to catch HCCT 3 times here in the UK, and you where great each time, once you even signed my bald head in a tent at a small gig in a village called Laxfield near my home in Suffolk!! what a top gig that was. Sorry to hear about HCCT ending & will miss the wonderful music you all, oh excuse me, Y'all made. San Diego sure misses you a lot. I cannot wait until the show at the Casbah on 15th & just had a friend call from the Mucky Duck in Houston & she was kind enough to let me listen for a while - it sounds great!!! . I look forward to seeing you again & cannot wait for the new music to come out & to hear the band in person & not through a phone.Take care & please keep at it. Congrats on the Dylan gig as well.

Comments: Good luck on your road trip. I first saw you with HCCT when you played at Coney Island in Cincinnati with Riders In The Sky. Caught you again in Dayton Ohio at their summer festival and also at the Continental Club while visiting my son at U. of Texas. Since he has graduated and moved to KC, Mo. I wouln't be in Austin anytime soon. Please try to arrange a show in Cincinnati or Dayton, Ohio. Have all your HCCT cd's and love your music.

Comments: Hi Elana, Myself and my mate saw the Hot Club twice at the Kilkenny 2004 Festival and the three of you blew us away. As we were not fans previously it was a fantastic surprise and the second gig in Bollards Bar was one of the best we ever saw (ever). It was magic and the setting was like having a band playing in your front room at home but with a lot more Guinness and Bushmills. I hope your new band goes well in the future and thank you. |
