Elana,

We are driving to London from Bristol tomorrow, Wednesday,  10th May, and cannot wait to see  you  singing and playing again. Thank you so much  for coming to England!! We saw you when you came last with Hot Club in  Bristol and Cheltenham.

Can I ask a huge  favour please ... on Thursday , 11th May, it is my husband's Frank, 60th Birthday, and it would be wonderful if you could mention him and maybe play him a number or tune.

Thank you so much.

See you tomorrow then, tara, Sandra x

Elana and the Continental Two----

Seeing/hearing the three of you was for many of us the highlight of a music trip to Austin.... and we heard alot of music!!   Such a terrific evening at the Saxon Pub in April ! ! !   We enjoyed every minute and are waiting impatiently for August 25th when you will be in DENVER at Swallow Hill.  We would not miss it and will make sure our Denver pals don't either. (Of course we loved the Django Reinhardt parts especially!)  Yes----We were some of the folk who showed up in the BUS!

Thanks for the great evening!

You would be great at Lannie's Clocktower Cabaret in Denver.

Hi Elana, Beau and Luke,

I'd just like to tell you how knocked out I was with your shows at Boddam and Tingwall during the Shetland Folk Festival. I think most people who attended the Festival would agree you were the star turn this year. Our household are also enjoying your new mini album.

Thanks for coming such a long way to play for us, I don't think we'll forget you!

Best Wishes

Tom

I've just got back home after your wonderful concert in Sheffield. I have been a fan since you first appeared on British TV on the Jools Holland show and it was a privilege to see you perform live at last. Please come back again soon!!
The new trio is great, and both Luke and Beau played their part in making it a great evening. I am sure that everyone who was there will be waiting for the new CD to be available.
Thanks again for a great evening - and for the chance to actually meet you and have a chat. I look forward to the next time!

Your energy is infectious and your playing is superb!  My friend and I were blown away by you at Clickimin during the Shetland Folk Festival - for us you summed up quality and professionalism and hey, you looked fantastic! Definitely highlight of our festival - we live here and appreciate first class music. Good luck with the rest of your UK tour and we hope to see you sometime again.

Looking forward to seeing Elana and the guys in Brighton, UK on the 8th May 2006.  Not seen the trio live so any feedback from those who have would be great!  Hope they are as good as, or better than, The Hot Club of Cowtown.

Yo! Elana!

When are ya coming out to Los Angeles again? I checked all the on-line calendars, and notice the Midwest is reaping the benefits of locality. Unfair, I say!

I saw Hot Club a couple times at Boulevard in Culver City - we're gonna miss that act.

I see you've played some with the great and near-great, so are you still doing small dates?  So, if you have a favorite venue type, let me know. I'd be more than happy to rattle cages at some of the local places - maybe we can get something to happen.

Looking forward to hearing about any new CDs you may have in the works!

             Jeff

Hey I was just wondering how old you are since in you Bio it has nothing about age. Are you intersted in younger men? Cougar?

Just a question:  I'm curious -- Elana, why the surname change?

Are there any plans to return to Toronto for more performances?

Keep fiddlin'!

Last Tuesday, March 7, 2006, I saw a great show at Altadena, California's Coffee House Gallery Backstage: Elana James and the Continental Two....They hit the stage running with a fast instrumental. ...they took control of the audience and by the end we all knew we were in for a great ride. Now I have a personal maxim not to trust people who smile all the time...but in [Elana's] case, it just seemed that she was feeling a great joy at creating such wonderful music. This 4 month old group is still trying to find its legs, but they are tight, tight, tight. ÊHer partners were Luke Hill on guitar and Beau Sample on stand-up bass. The Continental Two. They were both handsome young men, dressed in suits, vests, and ties. Both are good singers and each soloed on several songs during the night, and sang in duets and trios with Elana.... Beau repeatedly showed off his prowess at slap bass, Elana broke....horsehairs on her bow.....If I were a horse I would be really nervous when I saw Elana James coming my way. Standing ovation in a tiny room.Ê[Elana's playing]Êgoes beyond virtuosity. Many fiddle players can show technical skills and speedy moves.Ê It gets down to the voicing, and those tasty little minor and diminished side notes that the greatest players slip into an otherwise straight forward solo.Ê Elana James has that skill par-excellence.Ê So do Luke and Beau for that matter.Ê So if you get a chance to hear them, grab it!Ê

Great show at Altadena... just your singing would be worth the price of admission.  Or, just your playing.

I loved "I Don't Mind."  How about trying "Concentratin' on You" (recorded by the Boswell Sisters, and recently by Janet Klein)?  But you don't really need suggestions-- you picked some great ones.

P.S. My mom said "She shouldn't let those cousins get away!"

Hi Elana ... we Ark/Ann Arbor types are all hoping to see you up Michigan way--if not here, then I bet the kids at Wheatland would love you to death, too.

But re: the new homepage design, I just thought I'd mention that a "Disography" might be a good name for a page of bad reviews if you had one (Elvis Costello posts all reviews, good and bad). But it doesn't quite convey what you want it to convey in this setting.

Best from Michigan,
Tex

Hey Elana,
Had the pleasure of catching you at the Continental club a few weeks back when I was in town playing with the "East Village Opera Company". What a fantastic night of music, please let me know if you're ever in New York, would love to hear you play again.
