Looking forward to seeing Elana and the guys in Brighton, UK on the 8th May 2006. Not seen the trio live so any feedback from those who have would be great! Hope they are as good as, or better than, The Hot Club of Cowtown.

Comments: Yo! Elana! When are ya coming out to Los Angeles again? I checked all the on-line calendars, and notice the Midwest is reaping the benefits of locality. Unfair, I say! I saw Hot Club a couple times at Boulevard in Culver City - we're gonna miss that act. I see you've played some with the great and near-great, so are you still doing small dates? So, if you have a favorite venue type, let me know. I'd be more than happy to rattle cages at some of the local places - maybe we can get something to happen. Looking forward to hearing about any new CDs you may have in the works! Jeff
Comments: Hi Elana, Glad to see you're out there fiddling! We miss you in Wickenburg! Let us know if you're ever in our neck of the woods.
Hugs & kisses, The Webb Center gang (Steph, Cathy & Tim)
Comments: It was a dark and stormy night but nothing could keep Gloria and I from the Frieght and Salvage show in Berekely, CA. Hoping you'll pass our way again soon!!!! All the Best!!! Yor fans from Chico, CA Ed and Gloria Barnett
Comments: Hi Elana
Just to say we're looking forward to seeing you at The Musician in Leicester in May. Seems ages since we last saw you (with Hotclub) in Cheltenham, Austin TX have it TOO good!
Comments: Elana, I'm looking forward to seeing you in concert again at the church in York (May 13th), England but will you be bringing along any merchandise for sale, i.e. a CD of your new music?
Comments: Hey I was just wondering how old you are since in you Bio it has nothing about age. Are you intersted in younger men? Cougar?
Comments: Was great to see you yesterday at The Texas Western Swing Fiddling Showcase! As always LOTS OF SWING POWER in your string works. Good to have you playing back down in Texas more these days. Look forward to catching you at Gruene in the future! Great CD/Thanks

Just a question: I'm curious -- Elana, why the surname change?
Are there any plans to return to Toronto for more performances?
Keep fiddlin'!
Comments: Last Tuesday, March 7, 2006, I saw a great show at Altadena, California's Coffee House Gallery Backstage: Elana James and the Continental Two....They hit the stage running with a fast instrumental. ...they took control of the audience and by the end we all knew we were in for a great ride. Now I have a personal maxim not to trust people who smile all the time...but in [Elana's] case, it just seemed that she was feeling a great joy at creating such wonderful music. This 4 month old group is still trying to find its legs, but they are tight, tight, tight. ÊHer partners were Luke Hill on guitar and Beau Sample on stand-up bass. The Continental Two. They were both handsome young men, dressed in suits, vests, and ties. Both are good singers and each soloed on several songs during the night, and sang in duets and trios with Elana.... Beau repeatedly showed off his prowess at slap bass, Elana broke....horsehairs on her bow.....If I were a horse I would be really nervous when I saw Elana James coming my way. Standing ovation in a tiny room.Ê[Elana's playing]Êgoes beyond virtuosity. Many fiddle players can show technical skills and speedy moves.Ê It gets down to the voicing, and those tasty little minor and diminished side notes that the greatest players slip into an otherwise straight forward solo.Ê Elana James has that skill par-excellence.Ê So do Luke and Beau for that matter.Ê So if you get a chance to hear them, grab it!Ê Kevin Cloud Brechner Time River Productions Pasadena, California.
Comments: Great show at Altadena... just your singing would be worth the price of admission. Or, just your playing. I loved "I Don't Mind." How about trying "Concentratin' on You" (recorded by the Boswell Sisters, and recently by Janet Klein)? But you don't really need suggestions-- you picked some great ones. P.S. My mom said "She shouldn't let those cousins get away!"
Comments: Hi Elana ... we Ark/Ann Arbor types are all hoping to see you up Michigan way--if not here, then I bet the kids at Wheatland would love you to death, too. But re: the new homepage design, I just thought I'd mention that a "Disography" might be a good name for a page of bad reviews if you had one (Elvis Costello posts all reviews, good and bad). But it doesn't quite convey what you want it to convey in this setting. Best from Michigan, Tex
Comments: Hey Elana, Had the pleasure of catching you at the Continental club a few weeks back when I was in town playing with the "East Village Opera Company". What a fantastic night of music, please let me know if you're ever in New York, would love to hear you play again. Best, Chris Tarry http://www.christarry.com
Comments: Hi Elana,
I can't wait to see you on Friday at the Palms Playhouse. I've seen you many time with the Hot Club and now have the pleasure of introducing my bride to your wonderful sound.
Comments: hey elana, can't wait to hear the new group. the songs you have up on the web sound amazing. is there any way for fans to get their hands on those recordings without driving 12 hours to a live show? you know i'll do it. i've done it before. i'm living in asheville, nc these days. come play the grey eagle here and the ark in a2! best wishes, -greta
Comments: HI love your cover of ALL I WANT IS YOU it was very cool.best regards JOHN PAUL RYAN....
Comments: Hello Elana!
A belated thank you for your electric performance at Club Helsinki. I'm so glad I brought along my 12 yo son. He seems to have been inspired by the guitar pickin'. You were by far the most enjoyable artist I have seen there - you have minted a new fan! I won't bore you by repeating all the wonder- ful accolades, but I can back them all up. It was a pleasure to chat with you outside the club. Just wish you can come out east soon. Enjoy spreading your joy and don't change nuthin' - you are too beautiful.
Comments: Hi Elana, I just heard that you changed your name "for professional reasons." I will have to get used to that. Have seen you perform seven times in 2004 during your, what did you call it? "22 days of Christmas" tour? I came to your both several times and spoke with you...mostly wondering how you ended up touring with Dylan. You said he saw you on a tv show in London and called you. He certainly has an eye for talent! I also saw you perform twice in Chicago with Bob Dylan and Merle Haggard. I enjoy your music and the magic you bring to the music. I am from a small town in Indiana and would love to see you visit the Hoosier State. There is a great club in Indianapolis called the Vogue which I hear is a great place to play. Good Luck to you and all the best! Steve Myers
Comments: Hi there, It was nice meeting you at the Folk Conference in Austin. And watching you play with your group. Enjoyed your jam with Johnny Gimble. Hopfully we'll cross paths again.
Comments: Elana, I can't say enough nice things about your physical beauty, stage presence, and pure talent. It's easy to see that you get as much enjoyment playing for the audience and we get watching the show. You are simply one of the greatest fiddle players ever. Like I said in an earlier email, I look forward to seeing your shows for a long time. Can't wait to be a TEXAN ! ![]() |
