Comments: Hello Elana; Congratulations on the fantastic performance last night at the Continental Club in Austin. We have now been there for two Thursday happy hours in a row and had a great time. Your rendition of Orange Blossom Special last night would be a very hard act for any fiddler to follow. Your voice sounded fuller and more melodic and, at one point, you even threw in a growl. We enjoy your fiddle playing, singing, stage presence and the way you connect with your audience during the show and during the breaks too. We have two of your posters, your new CD and several of the older Hot Club Of Cowtown CDs too. Whit Smith was superb last night too and the bass work by Jake Erwin - wow - how does he get so much sound out of a bass? We've been fans since around 1997 when you played with Hot Club Of Cowtown at Threadgills and have been impressed with the transitions, evolution of the sounds and the adventures of your and Whit Smith's bands over the years. We noted that your listing for last night's performance was again as Hot Club Of Cowtown. This is my first exposure to your music and I am pleased and smiling!!! Comments: Elana, You might remember when I contacted you a few years ago for Vernon Derrick, a long-time friend of mine and a great admirer of you and Hot Club. Vernon played fiddle for several years with Hank Williams, Jr., Hank III, Stanley Brothers, Flatt & Scruggs, Jimmy Martin and others. I passed your address and phone number on to him. Don't know if he ever found time to contact you. Vernon was a great loss to many music lovers and the friends and family who knew him best. I'm sorry to say that Vernon passed away on 1/4/2008. Comments: Great show last night in Syracuse. I enjoyed it both as a musician and as a fan. Several years ago I played a gig as a back up musician for a Fiddler's Contest. By the end of the day, in the hot sun, I grew to hate "Orange Blossom Special". However, your version last night blew me away. Please come back again.
